At Can-Am Elite, we believe the world’s most advanced city deserves the world’s most elite badminton club — and we are building exactly that here in San Jose.
As the host of one of the highest-level junior badminton tournaments in the United States, the 2025 USAB Yonex Junior Selection Event showcased Can-Am Elite Badminton as a natural stage for youth development, diversity, and Olympic aspirations.
We see this not just as a sporting milestone, but as a shared opportunity to reflect the values of our city: innovation, multicultural strength, and community pride.
We envision Can-Am Elite becoming:
- A permanent home for national youth championships
- A launchpad for future international events — including the Global Chinese Badminton Cup, BWF world-level youth and professional tournaments, our signature San Jose Open, and new cross-border events uniting players from both the U.S. and Canada
- A platform to amplify the journeys of rising stars from our local neighborhoods — future Olympians who may one day represent San Jose and inspire a new generation
- A model for how youth sports, family culture, and global recognition can thrive together in a city built on excellence
- A future host of an annual charity tournament — a planned initiative to help sponsor emerging talents with Olympic potential, especially those from underrepresented or underserved backgrounds. This program is still in its early planning stages and will require broad community and civic support to come to life
San Jose is home to many of the world’s most talented families — engineers, entrepreneurs, and innovators — particularly from Asian-American and South Asian communities. Their children are not only the future of technology, but also an emerging force in world badminton. Through this shared investment in sport, we strengthen the bond between families and the city — creating a virtuous cycle of civic pride and youth development.
